On A Budget::Date Night And...A Giveaway!
>> Thursday, January 21, 2010 –
love,
the snowball project
I thought that living on a budget would cramp my style. And truthfully, there was some cramping and some things got squeezed out altogether. But we held on tight to Date Nights because of what they contribute to our marriage.
Some of my favorite dates with H include bike rides into downtown to wander around the Farmer's Market, or an evening at the local coffee shop with a good book and a cup of tea. And from time to time the company I work for gives us free tickets to watch our local baseball team.
Yesterday you left some great comments about your favorite Date Nights. As I was reading them, I realized that not one of your ideas require lots of money and most of them are free! While time may be an issue for some, money doesn't have to be. If you missed it, go here and read the comments for some wonderfully inexpensive romantic ideas.
To thank you for your ideas, I'm giving away a free copy of Simply Romantic Dates On A Dime. You'll have it in time for Valentine's Day! Just leave a comment on today's post for your chance to win. Please be sure you include your email address so that I can contact you. Mention this giveaway on your blog, Facebook, or Twitter, come back here and let me know, and you'll get another entry. You can enter right up until midnight on Saturday (Central Time), and I'll post the winner early Sunday morning.
And while we're talking about hot dates with your mate, let me remind you about the Weekend To Remember. The two-for-one offer has ended, but you can still save $80 per couple if you register here.
To read more On A Budget posts, go here or here. Next week I'll be talking about my adventures in thrifting with highlights from super thrifters Ina and Simone!
Wow! I hope you can keep up with all the links in this post! Now...go and be romantic!

What a lovely post :) Thank you for encouraging relationships :) :) :)
I think anytime spent just together without interruptions of daily life is a date. Any time my hubby is with out his phone is cherry for me. Can't wait to hear your thrift ideas with Simone and Ina.
Glad your date night went well. I am happy no matter where Doug and I go...actually, I love keeping it simple....a walk in the park, etc.
Hugs and prayers,
andrea

Consider me a cheap date. I love figuring out ways to have fun on a dime. I am not eating out now and saving lots.

Yaaaa for you, Deidra! Thank you for encouraging us to keep first things first in our families and marriage!
I so love simple dates too. Boo and I like going to concerts in the park when it's not to hot outside. Also, we have may community activities like Art Under the Umbrellas that is also free and enjoyable.
Sometimes, you can even find free admissions to live animal habitats or museums as well.
Your date ideas sound wonderful!
Date Nights are one thing I've encouraged in my daughters' and their husbands marriages. With children it's important to remember that they were a couple first.
I still try to find new ways to have a date night with my ol' guy of 30 years.
