jordan and me

When Jordan graduated last month in California, it was a flurry of activity and, for me, a roller coaster ride of emotion. It wasn't until I saw his name there on the program that I realized this was real. The truth of it all just kind of smacked me in the face.

These graduates are smart and talented and strong-willed and skilled. They are staring the future down without blinking. They are following their dreams, which is a tough road to travel. And a road I sometimes wish I'd traveled more. My prayers are with my son.
I've got to let him go. He's got to make his way in this world. I'm holding my breath.

It's a good thing there were others with cameras at the graduation, because the shot above of Jordan's foot is the only one I got. I was too busy soaking it all in.
And in the end, this picture...well...it speaks a thousand words and then some.

I loved the picture of you and Jordan. It spells pure happiness and pride for your little boy who has now grown into a man.

He's going to go so very far with both you and H by his side.

Congrats to your son! What a handsome young man - all the kids are beautiful! So full of life and youth (I'm jealous!). That picture does speak volumes - God was there to help you get that shot!

Pride. And Joy. A beautiful photograph of you and Jordan to treasure for always.

Big steps forward for him and his graduating year. And big steps forward for mom in letting go and watching a beloved move out into the world.

I love that last photograph. Meant to be.

Congrats to you and your son! I love the shoe pic. If you try (not even too hard) I bet you can remember him at age 8 in khaki's and sneakers. Sigh. This all goes so fast, doesn't it??

I love that last shot -- a foot stepping onto a new path. And I'm glad you were too busy soaking in the moments to take any pictures -- too often I miss the actual experience trying to record it for history.

Jordan is exuding happiness. You and H have done well.

Congratulations to Jordan. And to you and H for raising up a son that has the ambition and drive to get that degree. Having had my three daughters all graduate, I know, indeed, what it takes on the part of the parents as well as the student. It's hard to let them grow on their own terms and venture forth. It's a big, big world out there. It sounds like things are going to be great for him.

Congratulations to Jordan!

I know what you mean about being too in the moment to get a picture. A couple of my boys' toddler birthday parties are completely unphotographed.

Congratulations Jordan! He has a solid foundation to build his future on, his family and friend's love and encouragement. I feel a great future for you son. You gave him your best only a mother can give. I look forward to reading all the great things he will do. xoxo

wow. I can only imagine how you mom's heart is feeling... I've got 20 years to go and I'm not sure I'll be able to do it! But congrats mom. That's wonderful!

Blessing!

I'll also invite you to swing by if you have the chance today -- I host a weekly carnival on JOY and I'm betting you might have some of that to share!
