Girl Talk::LOL
My mother LOVES to watch The Pink Panther. She likes the older versions, with Peter Sellers. From as far back as I can remember, she rolls with laughter whenever she watches the movie. One year we had cameras ready and were fortunate to catch one of her laughing attacks. I keep this clip in my camera so that I can laugh along with her when I need to LOL.
When was the last time you had the kind of laugh that makes your sides ache and causes tears to roll down your cheeks? At our dinner table, I would sometimes get to laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath and had to leave the kitchen to get away from the hilarity for just a minute. It was if I'd had a glee overdose. I think laughter shakes things up inside and when everything settles back down, it's closer to where it's supposed to be.
It's similar to the organic sugar I like to use. The sugar comes in a plastic shaker bottle, and sometimes it gets a bit stubborn. It packs itself into the bottom of the bottle and I have to shake it to loosen things up. After a few jiggles, the sugar flows freely again. Sometimes our perspective gets all packed down in the bottom of our souls, and we need a bit of laughter to loosen things up and get the sweet stuff flowing again. Laughter shakes things free. It brings to the surface good things, kind words, precious memories. It bursts free from our souls and sets the world upright again.
Why not find some LOL time this weekend? Here are some ideas to get you started:
I'd love to know what makes you laugh! Please share your ideas in the comments.
On Tuesday, I'll have MckLinky up and running. Get your OATH posts ready to link up! I can't wait to hear what you have to say about using Only Adjectives That Heal/Help. Your comments and emails along the way have been a true blessing to me, and I know your posts will be an encouragement to others. Now go out there and laugh!

Excellent idea!!
A day without a good belly laugh is a day not worth getting up for!
Oh my goodness. That video cracked me up and then I got to laughing at Jacks reaction to hearing the laughter. Thanks so much to you and your mom. I loved it.
i am laughing so hard!!! thank you!
Your mom is so cute!! She had me laughing as well.
I loved when she said, "I've got to think of something sad." and then continued to laugh.
You're right, what the world needs is a good belly laugh.
Everyone needs a good belly laugh. Maybe there wouldn't be so much hate in the world. Great post!
My sister and I used to laugh until we were running for the bathroom. I haven't laughed like that in years. Every once in a while my husband says or does something that truly bubbles a laugh up from the depths.
That was great! I'd love to spend an afternoon with your mother!
We're really into laughter at our house. Telling funny stories, dancing badly, playing silly games and whatever else we can think of. My husband makes me laugh everyday, too. He has a gift for one liners.
Your mother has that kind of laughter that always makes me start laughing as well. Even when I have no idea what is so funny! When my brother, dad, and I get togtether we will sit around and laugh hysterically. Sometimes making other's (spouses, for instance) uncomfortable. But that kind of laughter is worth it. Every time. Loved this post. Laughing. is. vital. Even when it's at yourself. Enjoy your weekend. :)
This is great. I am one of those people that is always saying that laughter is the best medicine of all. Even if it is sarcastic. Is still the best.
Your mom got me smiling and laughing too! I thought Peter Sellers was a riot as well, I cracked up each time his assistant would jump out of a closet or on top of him from somewhere. A comic genius!! My husband Ron can make me laugh very hard. He cracks me up at random times for very little reason. He is my own personal Peter Sellers.
The video also brought a fond memory of my Aunt Bette, who died in 2006. She and my mother (her sister) would get together and they would laugh so hard they would both have to RUN to the bathroom.... they would always say, I'm gonna wet my pants!! and fly off to the bathrooom!!! thanks for the big smile today!!!
I love a good laugh. I can laugh on the silly things I get myself in to or do, a good movie, just about anything. I hope you have a joyful weekend my friend. xo
Love the video of your mom laugh! I think laughter is the best medicine to all. Have a wonderful weekend.
Deidra, I love what you said here about laughter giving us a 'good loosening and shaking' from the inside out ... Wonderful!
The day goes so much better when I laugh at myself :D
Somehow my daughter (who is 6) always makes me laugh, even when she isn't trying to be funny! And my husband has a GREAT sense of humor and is always making me laugh too. I am very lucky!
Your mom will live to be 100. Loved seeing her enjoy herself so much.
Thanks for the reminder about laughter, D! I admit, sometimes when the kids get going, cracking up and being super silly, I get irritated! I know, terrible! Next time I will take a breath and remember that their silliness is a good thing.
Your mom's laugh is infectious! I was laughing right along with her!
